Do you have anything I can pick up same day?
Yes!! We keep vanilla and chocolate Bavarian cream cakes on hand every day for same-day requests. The cakes are available in three sizes, ranging from serving 8 to serving 16. Walk-ins can purchase any cakes currently available, or you can call ahead or order online and have a specific size/flavor set aside for you.
How far in advance should I order a custom cake?
The sooner, the better! When given plenty of notice, we have more availability for special designs or requests. For heavily designed cakes, we recommend ordering at least a month out. Once a specific day is fully booked, we will cut off taking additional orders for that day.
I waited too long to get a cake, what last minute options do you have?
We continue taking cake orders until a day is completely booked. If you have a last minute cake need, give us a call and we may be able to make it happen! If we are booked out for complex/difficult custom cakes, we can often make suggestions on paring down a design to fit with what we can still accomodate. We also have cakes that we keep on hand for same-day purchases, and we can get you set up with one of those.
How should I estimate my budget?
Our cakes start at $3 per serving. Knowing how many servings of cake you need will help you decide on a starting budget. If you also want a specific design on your cake, there will likely be additional charges. Due to the range of design possibilities, we cannot provide design estimates without more information.
Can you put a picture on a cake?
Yes! We can create edible images that can be placed directly onto a cake. There are a variety of photo sources that can be used and we also have someone on staff who can do some photo editing if needed.
Can you do any design on any cake?
No, some cakes do have limitations. For example, we cannot use dark frosting colors or fondant on our Bavarian cream cakes. If you have a complex design, there is a good chance we will suggest that your cake be done in our traditional buttercream style. If you only want Bavarian cake, we can suggest an altered design that we can make work. The same limitations apply to any cake iced in our whipped icing.
Our cream cheese icing also has some limitations. This icing is a light ivory color, and cannot be dyed any other color. We cannot add designs in dark colors on top of the cream cheese icing. We also do not recommend smooth-icing a cake with cream cheese, as this particular icing is almost impossible to get completely smooth.
Why can’t you put dark frosting colors on a Bavarian cream cake?
Our Bavarian Cream Cheesecake is iced with a non-dairy whipped topping. This icing has a higher water content than other frostings, which makes it easy for darker colors to spread onto other areas of the cake where you don’t necessarily want that color. We like to think of it like watercolor- if you have a large area of water and add in a small drop of color, the color will travel through the water and soon all the water will be that color, even though you only added the color in one spot.
I need a cake stand, do you have any?
We have a wide selection of cake stands available to rent. There is a $40 rental fee as well as a $100 deposit required to rent a stand. The $100 deposit is refunded once the stand has been returned and we have verified it is in the same condition as when it left.
I need my party cake delivered, what options do you have?
If you are looking for a simple cake, we have vanilla and chocolate Bavarian cream cake options with delivery available through Doordash and via our online ordering system. If you need a custom cake, or if your address is not within the delivery radius of the online options, we can arrange a delivery for you. The cost of delivery is based on how far away the location is from our store and starts at $25. To get an exact quote, please reach out to us with your delivery details and we are happy to provide that information. When delivering to apartment complexes, the delivery will need to be made to the management office.
My party is on a Sunday, is it okay to keep a cake overnight?
Yes, we are happy to give instructions on how to keep one of our cakes safely overnight. Our buttercream cakes are stable at room temperature and can be kept on the counter or in the fridge overnight. We do always recommend letting buttercream cakes fully come up to room temperature before serving as traditional cake will taste its best at room temp. Our Bavarian cream cakes are frozen in order to set up the layers inside, and we recommend keeping the cake frozen until the day it is served. This means you will need to ensure you have room in your freezer to keep the cake in overnight. If freezer space is not an option, you can keep a Bavarian cream cake in the fridge overnight instead, you may just see some beads of condensation appear on the cake. This will not affect the taste in any way, but can potentially mess up designs, so the freezer is the safest option. We will give you thawing instructions upon pick up of your cake based on when you plan to serve, as each size will require a different thaw time.

Can I order a custom cake online?
We require that all custom cake orders be finalized over the phone, so we can cover all the details and ensure the order is accurate. We do, however, have an online order form to start the process. Follow this link to start a custom cake order: www.ludgersbavariancakery.com/forms/request-a-quote-custom-cake-online/
There are also some cakes available through our online portal that have a design included. These cakes come as they are, and cannot be further customized aside from adding writing.
How much do custom cakes cost?
Custom cake costs depend on a variety of factors, including size, design, type of cake, etc. The best way to start a custom cake order is to find photo examples that show the general design or theme you are going for. If you have a specific budget you are working with, we are happy to tailor our design quote to fit your needs. If the cake you are requesting is outside of your desired budget, our team will make suggestions for alternative options.
I am picking up my cake, will it be in a box?
How the cake is packaged depends on the size and design of the cake. Standard cakes without toppers will come boxed in a standard white cake box. If your cake has a topper or a taller design, we may prop the lid of the box open so the lid cannot touch the topper or cake. If you are getting a tiered cake from us, we will use a taller box that includes a lid. These boxes open from the side, making it easy to remove the tiered cake.
What is the best way to transport a custom cake?
Transporting your cake will depend on several factors including type of cake, design, size, weather, and type of vehicle. We will provide specifics for you based on your specific order.
Are you a licensed, health-department certified, and insured bakery?
Yes, we are a licensed and insured retail bakery in the state of Oklahoma. We hold licenses from the City of Tulsa and the State of Oklahoma and are certified by the Tulsa County Health Department. This is an important distinction on such an important day!
Do you offer cake tastings?
We do! We have complimentary cake tastings available in-store, which include dedicated time with one of our wedding coordinators. During the appointment, you will get to try all of our Bavarian cream cake flavors, and discuss design and sizing options. We will provide a quote at the end of the appointment that covers what was discussed. This quote can always be changed, and there is no pressure to book the same day! If you can’t or prefer not to come in-store, we also offer pick-up tasting kits that can be taken home and enjoyed on your time! Our pick-up kits do cost $5, which covers the cost of the packaging.
How early do I need to order a wedding cake?
Wedding season can span from April to October with the peak months being May, June, September, and October. If you are getting married in one of the months mentioned you should plan ahead at least 4-6 months to ensure you get your date reserved.
If you are in need of something within a limited timeframe, please reach out! We will always accommodate requests when possible, even with limited notice.
I need a wedding cake with less than a month’s notice, is that something you can accommodate?
We are happy to work with whatever time line you are on! With less than a month’s notice, we will likely be limited on design and size, but we will never send away a bride and groom if we can help it! We do have a small fee for last-minute wedding orders (**I MADE THIS UP**), as orders of this nature do require extra work on our end. The best way to optimize your time is to set up an in-store consultation (which includes cake tasting!) so we can work in person with you on what you want. This is the quickest and most efficient way to plan. We can also communicate via phone, email and text to ensure all details are accounted for and factored in, however keep in mind that miscommunications are always possible over phone/text/email, so it is always advised to speak with us in person at least once to ensure there are no misunderstandings.
How do I know if my wedding date is still available?
It is rare that we completely block off a date for weddings, but if you’re worried, you are more than welcome to call our store so we can check on your date in real time for you.
Can I reserve my wedding date?
Yes, you can reserve your date by putting down a deposit based on the price estimate created for you. Half of the total amount is required to get your name on the calendar. A portion of this deposit is non-refundable. You do not need to know all the details of your design when the deposit is made, but everything must be finalized 2 weeks prior to the event date.
Why do I have to sign a contract to get a wedding cake?
Due to the amount of planning and time that goes into each wedding cake, big or small, we do require a contract to be signed. There are a lot of factors that contribute to an amazing wedding day, and our contract ensures we are all on the same page regarding your cake expectations. If a contract is not signed, we cannot be held liable for issues detailed within the contract.
I’m getting my wedding cake delivered, when and how will I find out the delivery time?
We finalize delivery times roughly one week out from events, no earlier. Unless previously discussed, we aim to deliver 2-3 hours before the start of your ceremony (or reception). Once your delivery time is finalized, you will receive an email from us with your delivery window.
My wedding is on a holiday when your store is closed or a Sunday. Does that change anything?
If you are planning to get your cake delivered, the pricing will change for delivery on a Sunday or on a holiday. Your base delivery cost is calculated based on mileage, there is a $75 add on fee for Sunday delivery, and a $75 add on fee for holiday delivery. If your event falls on a Sunday holiday, you will be charged both fees. If you plan to pick your cake up ahead of time, we will work with you on a plan for keeping it safe until cake cutting. Keep in mind that tiered cakes can take up quite a lot of room, so space is an important factor to consider.
Do you deliver?
We are happy to deliver and set up your cake! Our delivery pricing starts at $50.00 and considers mileage and ease of access (stairs, elevators, parking, etc.). If you would like an exact delivery quote, we will require an exact address. If an exact address cannot be provided immediately, the delivery quote given will be considered an estimate.
Are your cakes frozen?
Our Bavarian cakes are frozen as part of the cake creation process. This is done in order to get the delicious layers of cake and cream to set, and ensure’s we have a firm cake to decorate. We do not keep our cakes in the freezer for long periods of time.
We always recommend thawing the cake the same day it is being served. The thaw time will depend on the size of the cake. Factors such as weather, and where the cake is being held (outdoor vs. indoor wedding) also contribute to this timing. Based on the information given to us, we will give you the best practices and ideal thaw time for your cake.
How many servings of cake do I need at my wedding?
We suggest ordering one serving of your main cake for each guest. If you are choosing to add a groom’s cake as well, we suggest ordering portions to cover at least half your guest list. The theory is that if the groom’s cake is a different flavor of cake, then roughly half the people will try both cakes. This is simply a starting point and we are happy to discuss each wedding specifically.
Will there be any additional charges?
All additional charges will be disclosed as details are provided and may not be in the initial price quote if not yet communicated. These include but are not limited to: elaborate custom designs, additional layers, icing flowers, placing flowers, custom shapes, ombre, hand-painted designs, airbrush, and custom cake flavors.
How can I stay budget-friendly with my cake order for a larger wedding?
A popular option for couples with large guest lists is to order a smaller ‘display cake,’ in addition to ‘side cake(s)’ which provide supplemental servings but are not intended to be displayed for guests.
What is a side cake?
Side cakes are a great way to supplement your wedding cake! They can be used to add a dietary option, different flavors, or increased servings. Side cakes should be ordered in the sizes listed, one flavor per size. Side cakes are typically not displayed with the main cake and are meant to be served from the kitchen. If customization is desired, additional charges may apply. Additional delivery charges apply.
When do you deliver the cake?
We deliver 2-3 hours prior to the start of the event. The exact delivery time will depend on event variables and delivery schedule availability. If a certain time frame is needed, please be sure to communicate this need during the planning process.
Delivery times are finalized a week prior to your event, no earlier. You will receive an email with your expected delivery time as soon as the timing is confirmed by our delivery team.
Can I pick up my wedding cake?
Yes! There are certain factors that need to be considered when electing to pick up your cake, and we are happy to discuss them with you.
What if I want non-edible elements added to my cake?
Real Flowers | We suggest talking to your florist first. Some flowers need special care and they are the experts! However, if you still need assistance, let us know!
Fake Flowers | We are happy to apply your fake flowers! This must be communicated ahead of time and additional charges may apply.
Cake Toppers | We can absolutely add your topper! There are some variables that can affect this task, so please communicate with us so we are all on the same page.
Do you have decorative cake stands available?
We have an assortment of cake stands for rent. There is a $40 charge for rental and a $100 refundable equipment deposit. You may also use your own stand or one rented or purchased elsewhere. If using your own stand, please ensure the stand is the appropriate size and strong enough to support your cake. We are happy to advise on cake stand sizes, based on the size of the cake you have ordered.
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Reschedule | We will always do our best to accommodate rescheduling your event without penalty. New dates are subject to availability.
Cancellation | All cancellations are subject to our cancellation policy as outlined in our contract. The contract is provided with your custom quote.
I am coming with a big group, is it necessary to reserve seating?
We do not do standard table reservations, all seating is first come, first serve. Our seating is somewhat limited for large parties. We have two indoor areas which are good for larger groups, all other seating is intended for small groups of 2-4. We also have a patio with tables, chairs, and umbrellas. If you are planning to come between the hours of 8 to 10 am or 11 am to 1 pm, seating may be more limited as those are our busiest hours.
Do you have any areas or seating that can be reserved?
Though we don’t take reservations in the way that most restaurants do, we do have a way to request reserved seating. We have a room that is slightly separated from our main seating area, which has two larger tables. Depending on the size of your group we can either reserve one or both tables. The maximum number of people we can have in this area is 14, though we recommend not having more than 12, otherwise, the spacing will be tight. We have one long high-top table in our main dining area that is also available to reserve. This table seats a total of 8 people comfortably, or 10 if everyone sits close together. If you are interested in reserving one of these areas, you must fill out a room request form. This does not guarantee you a reservation, and we will reach out to you with an answer as soon as possible.
I am having a birthday party, can I rent your room?
We do not rent out our room for parties. This is something we have tried in the past, but we have found through experience this is not the best use for the space, and parties become too disruptive for the rest of our customers.
Does it cost money to reserve your room?
We do not charge any money to reserve a table or our side room, however we do ask that all members of your party patronize our bakery in some way, whether that’s buying a meal, pastry, or coffee.
How long can I rent out the room for?
We currently do not have any official time-limits on reservations. If a request is submitted for longer than 1 hour, we will evaluate the date and time the reservation is requested for, and will accommodate longer reservations when possible.
I would like to rent out your room for an event that is come-and-go, is that possible?
We cannot accommodate any group that does not have a set number of people or a set meeting time, as this makes it very difficult to staff our team appropriately.
How many people can fit in your side room?
Legally we cannot have more than 14 people in our side room, based on fire codes. With a full 14 in the room, spacing is a little squished, so we suggest no more than 12 people in order to be seated comfortably.
I just want to reserve a small table, not the whole room. How do I do that?
We will have you fill out the same room reservation request form, which requires you to note the number of guests you expect. If you have a group of 4 or less, we will automatically reserve a table instead of the full room for you.
Can I bring in outside food or drink?
No, we do not allow outside food or drinks to be brought in. Guests who have a room or table reservation are all expected to patronize our business.
