How should I transport my custom cake?

Posted Jul 3, 2026

The safest way to transport your cake depends on its size, design, icing, the weather, and the type of vehicle you’re driving. Because every cake is different, we’ll provide transportation recommendations specific to your order when you pick it up.

In general, we recommend transporting your cake on a flat, level surface, such as the cargo area of an SUV or hatchback or the floorboard of your vehicle. We do not recommend placing a cake on a seat, where it can slide or tip during turns or sudden stops.

During warmer months, cool your vehicle before loading the cake and keep the air conditioning running throughout your drive.

💡 Helpful Tip

Drive as though you have a large pot of soup sitting on your passenger seat—slow starts, gradual stops, and gentle turns are the best way to protect your cake.

⭐ Good to Know

The best transportation method depends on your specific cake. Larger cakes, tiered cakes, whipped icing, and cakes with delicate decorations may require additional recommendations, which we’ll review with you before you leave the bakery.
